Did you know that mushrooms are one of the most filling foods you can eat? That’s according to Ladies’ Home Journal (https://bit.ly/1tGQ8wl). It quotes a study from Appetite that ‘showed that people who ate ground white button mushrooms instead of meat at lunch (in dishes such as lasagna) consumed 420 calories less than those who ate the same lunch made with meat – and they reported that their meal was just as tasty.’ So get out your big chopping knife and get to work mincing that punnet of buttons to use in any recipe where you’d usually use beef, lamb, chicken or pork mince. And also try to include a couple of additional foods from the journal’s 10 Most Filling Foods You Can Eat list: beans, fish, Brussels sprouts, raspberries, popcorn, avocado, mushrooms, peas, walnuts and potatoes. All yummy choices, I think.
