Thai Beef Wraps

Ingredients

For 4

Thai Beef Wraps (Before)

  • 15 ml oil or peanut oil
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 5 ml fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 600 g sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 small red chilli, finely chopped
  • 15 ml brown sugar
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 5 ml fish sauce
  • 4 tortilla wraps
  • 0.5 red pepper, deseeded and cut into strips
  • 0.5 Mediterranean cucumber, deseeded and cut into long strips
  • 4 spring onions, cut into long strips
  • 0.25 cup torn fresh coriander leaves (optional)

Thai Beef Wraps (After)

  • 30 ml oil or peanut oil
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 5 ml fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 300 g sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 300 g Big Brown Mushrooms, thickly sliced
  • 1 small red chilli, finely chopped
  • 15 ml brown sugar
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 5 ml fish sauce
  • 4 tortilla wraps
  • 0.5 red pepper, deseeded and cut into strips
  • 0.5 Mediterranean cucumber, deseeded and cut into long strips
  • 4 spring onions, cut into long strips
  • 0.25 cup torn fresh coriander leaves (optional)

Thai Beef Wraps Method

  1. Thai Beef Wraps (Before) To serve - Dipping sauce: Heat the oil in a wok or frying pan.
  2. Add the, garlic and ginger, and cook for 2 minutes. Add the beef and increase the heat to high. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the red chilli, brown sugar, lime juice and fish sauce and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool. Fill the wrap with the beef, red pepper, cucumber, spring onions and coriander leaves (if using).
  5. Serve with a dipping sauce.
  6. Thai Beef Wraps (After) - Dipping sauce: Heat 15ml oil in a frying pan.
  7. Add the, garlic and ginger, and cook for 2 minutes.
  8. Add the beef and increase the heat to high. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  9. Place the remaining 15ml oil in the pan and add the big brown mushrooms. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  10. Stir in the reserved beef, red chilli, brown sugar, lime juice and fish sauce and cook for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
  11. Fill the wrap with the beef, red pepper, cucumber, spring onions and coriander leaves (if using).
  12. Serve with a dipping sauce.
